什么是profit sharing

换了个新工作 请问一下大家 profit sharing 8% of compensation的话 是什么意思？
好像401k有另外的match

就是公司硬要给你钱，你一毛钱401不存也要给。

公司赚的钱拿出来分给职工。你可以得到你工资的8%。有的公司是按季度分，有的是按年分。这是很好的福利。通常百分比是按级别给的。

8% of 一般是base，直接打进401k账户。不占用你自己的$20500 annual limit。非常tax efficient。但是所有401k（before tax，after tax，roth，company match，profit sharing）contribution加起来不能超过61000.

公司有profit sharing 计划，一部分直接进401k， 算是employer contribution。 另一部分就是奖金，每个季度发。 发多少和公司的盈利状况有关。

Intel 有quarterly profit sharing。 很多游戏公司不给股票，走的就是profit sharing。

我知道的是金融里面，一些中型/private asset manager会有。这帮人是把税法研究的最明白的，比tech只会发现金股票的精明多了。但是有profit sharing的公司越来越少了。因为年轻人买房什么的压力大，想要cash多过retirement saving。

就是bonus，公司业绩好就有，不好就没有。profit sharing打入401K，好像是不算入那 $20.5K （2022）的deferal limit里的 -- https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/plan-participant-employee/retirement-topics-401k-and-profit-sharing-plan-contribution-limits

听说有些医疗机构是工资的10%打入403，401仍可以放满，就是没match了……

对，离职了就少很多

每个公司的policy 都不大相同，我自己的经历：
公司M： 有401k match， 1$ for 50 cents, 有cap， 没有vest schedule。 公司K： 没有401k match。 公司S： 有401k match， 1$ for 1$, 有cap， 4年的vest schedule， 每年25%。 公司A: 有401k match， 1$ for 1$, 有cap，没有vest schedule。 公司G：有401k match， 1$ for 1$, 没有cap， up to 61k 联邦的limit， 没有vest schedule。有profit sharing。

那和bonus有什么区别？有个生物公司neb，new england biolabs。工资很低很低，但profit sharing很高，一般人都高过工资。十年前那会儿我那个offer，scientist工资只有七万多，但profit sharing第一年就四五万，按他们的formula到第五年能到快十万。可不明白他们的formula怎么能准确forecast公司的profit，还有社会的通胀呢。不过看大部分员工都在哪里工作二三十年，油水肯定是有的。
