以前就是base工资,也没了解过理财和避税方面的知识。想请教下大家,还有个大概的方向去了解。
一般说来 W2没有什么好的避税方法;
如果你家的收入很多, 并且早晚要建立家庭charity foundation 来避遗产税的, 那么你可以 把股票捐入打foundation里面, 避免 income tax, 不过每年捐5% 出去 (不过如果家里有设立charity foundation 的最终需要, 其实是合算的)。
但是你家单收入, 而且你才有72W的年收入, 感觉没有必要的。
还有要把 401K 放满, 有些公司, 如果你的级别够高, 有福利可以把你的 cash bonus 延迟交税, 比如放入投资账户里,以后离职或者设定一个时间拿。
去年年底发奖金的时候已经预扣37%了,210k。
组里还有一个同事,按照book,他去年应该拿了1500万的奖金,也没有任何办法避税?
多谢多谢。我听说有公司通过defered compensation的方法留下好员工,就是今年该发的奖金不发全,以后几年慢慢发。我不知道能不能主动去要求defer bonus,因为不是每年都能有这么多奖金的。

根据我跟我cpa的研究结果,w2避税基本没戏。Opportunity Zones对一些人可能有点儿用,不过不适合我的情况。谁要是有合法避税的点子也分享一下,交几百k的税确实有点儿肉疼

Deferred compensation is usually for executives, not sure of your level. Check with your HR
MFS 的tax bracket 和standard deduction 都比MFJ的低 大概是一半。比如MFS的standard deduction是12500, MFJ是25000。 一个人没工作的话当然是合着报划算。 不太清楚你说的那几个特殊州的情况,不过我觉得这样平均分不一定比和在一起低。你自己都算一下试一试呗。 我每年都两个各算一遍

我想说的是: 如果一个spouse不工作的话,能不能把投资房的passive loss变成active loss?这样就可以deduct active income,也就是W2的income。

没有州税可能差不多。W2也没啥可避的倒是。
Hold几年之后可以有10%的step up basis。
