I just took my 14-yr-old son to Hawaii last month. You can take a copy of birth certificate and school ID, but they're not required at airport. LAX did not ask me to show any documents. Just asked my son his name.
Also he does not need any ID or vaccination card to go any where. But do need a Clear Pass QR code when you arrived at the airport and hotel, minor's Clear Pass is under the parents.

School ID will work too. My high schoolers just went to Hawaii for a group activity, school ID is ok, no parents around, some chaperones and school teacher.

可以的，带上student ID 证明年龄就可以，我们去年底飞的，也是护照过期了，机场根本没看证件

不一定吧，这个年龄的孩子，如果孩子长的看上去比较大，看上去比较老成一些，有可能会要求出生身份证件吧。如果孩子好没拿驾照，护照就是有可能要求出示的。
