并不是，我看过一些采访，做了transgender手术并且不后悔的都是表示在大概四五岁的时候就明确的知道自己的认知性别和生理性别不同。而做transgender手术后悔的人的自述都是，从小并没有对自己的性别认知有障碍，但是因为后面遇到严重的同学bully或者性骚扰等情况之后才慢慢出现了对自己性别的厌恶，以为自己是transgender，以为做了手术就能改变被bully被性骚扰的问题…后者其实是出现了心理问题，需要接受心理治疗的。我觉得作为家长能做的就是在遇到这样的情况的时候要理性的和孩子站在一起，帮助孩子分辨他/她是出现了心理疾病还是确实是transgender。

每个人都看到了不同的悲剧吧。我在深红州读的书，这都是我学校里非常好的朋友，很优秀的人，因为出柜逐渐魔怔，需要面对这些真是非常替他们难过。而蓝州lgbt的精神面貌明显自信阳光很多。
他们从小被灌输lgbt是罪，父母因为自己是lgbt不和自己说话，学校不把他们的心理健康当回事，这对青春期小孩是很残酷的事。我是注意到我以前很优秀（当年还没有培训班就能SAT满分）的一个朋友开始自残，莫名其妙大哭，在课堂上说奇怪的话，我当时还不知道发生了啥。毕业之后她才向我出柜，描述了自己当时的经历。
因为出柜，她人生基本毁了，缓了十年还没缓回来。本来也是藤校苗子，最后去了个社区大学，和女友疯疯癫癫度日，走不出来，过不上正常生活。
还有另一个，Stanford的PhD，被Stanford录取当天和父母出柜，被父母说自己是全家的耻辱。

18岁之后。18岁之前有些东西可能孩子也不清楚，特别是不可逆的手术的话，之前有新闻孩子后悔的。

我是这么理解的：这个男孩因为基本需求（性别取向）得不到满足，所以转向暴力来表达他的需求，这是一个下意识的行为，孩子自己未必明白，或者可以清楚说出来，所以通过心理评估搞清楚他的暴力倾向的来源，从来源上解决问题，暴力问题就解决了。 这就是治本。当然很多人不懂，或者不愿意懂，就是另外一回事了。
