Dog receptor gene has very low sequence conservation as humans. The virus cannot get into their cells. Thus they cannot be infected by COVID. The previous test in China that dogs have COVID virus are either non-infectious viral DNA or false positive from qPCR kit. Cats can get COVID but I don't know if they can infect humans with it or not.
