A Texas man accused of sending a threatening message to a Maryland doctor “who publicly advocated for the Covid-19 vaccine” was indicted by a federal grand jury, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Scott Eli Harris, 51, of Aubrey, Tex., faces a one-count federal charge of threats transmitted by interstate communication, according to an indictment returned in September that was unsealed Tuesday following his arrest.
“We take seriously threats and intimidation, and this charge makes clear that such conduct will be prosecuted federally,” U.S. Attorney Erek L. Barron said in a news release.
On July 12, the indictment alleges, Harris used his cellphone to send a threat to a Maryland doctor, identified only as “Dr. L.W.”
