Missing Woman From Bridgewater Flood Found Dead

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A sad update as Malathi Kanche, who went missing in Bridgewater floodwaters, has been found dead, Kanche's family member Mansi said.
Somerset County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Frank Roman said emergency responders from multiple state agencies were searching for Kanche and using drones.
Kanche went missing when she was driving back from Rutgers University on Wednesday night with her daughter. Flash flood waters overwhelmed her car as she was passing by Route 22 in front of the Lexus dealership in Bridgewater , Mansi said.
Kanche and her daughter got out of the car to escape. Kanche's daughter knew how to swim and was able to swim to the dealership and was rescued. Kanche did not know how to swim and was last seen near the dealership, Mansi said.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced that 25 New Jersey residents were killed in the storm.

河边，那块离最近的海也有20多迈。
可能地势比较低

高二那一年省里的一个镇子发了洪水，死了很多人，记得当时报导说一个男孩子紧紧抱着什么才逃生，洪水退去时他看到一个同学闭着眼睛，以为他睡着了想把他叫醒，结果。。。😢

rip…真是祸从天降。

太惨了。RIP

遇到这种激流洪水，会游泳都没戏 还不如家里常备救生衣

能游至少800米是自救基本

今年全球极端天气频发啊，感觉不妙

天呐 那天晚上下班我老公也是冒着车被淹没的危险硬开回来了。我本来叫他呆着别回家，家里就我和孩子但是地势高也很安全，他上班那里也安全，就是Rutgers 那一段路有危险，现在看完新闻才知道原来那天是这么危险的。万幸，看了后怕，愿逝者安息。再次证明学游泳的重要性。

在同个地段同个时间段，有俩华人也被淹死了。flash flood是很可怕😱，6 ft flash flood可以移动suv之类的车

感觉NJ一碰到hurricane很难幸免于难，总会被淹

最重要的是买房需要买在高处，以后flood 会越来越频繁。

洪水中家有二楼的话，来得及爬上去吗？

根据johnstown洪水幸存者的描述，大概率来不及。

感觉NJ一碰到hurricane很难幸免于难，总会被淹

这hurricane在南方Louisiana登陆，结果在纽约新泽西发了洪水。就好比台风在广东登陆，结果北京和辽宁也暴雨成灾……

我也是每天开18号路 没想到被封了三天

这大雨要来lake tahoe有多好啊，这么多水，去的真不是地方，murphy's law..

台风烟花还在海上，郑州就下了大暴雨。超级台风影响的距离很远。

感到很震惊 我们在附近 也下雨了 但没感受到这么大 而且第二天就风平浪静 太阳很大 竟然死了这么多人 真是唏嘘 在灾难面前人类都是渺小的 RIP

我也是非常震惊。下雨的时候真没觉得吓人，虽然大些但风比Sandy 的时候小多了，并且没闪电打雷。
我们第二天下午出去了一趟。287 路边好多淹的车，开到22上更惨，西边的路上都是黄土，都是山上冲下来的。淹的车子看着更惨因为有的黄泥一直到车顶。Sandy的时候淹的是海边，不记得别的地方有淹得这么厉害。不过那时候停了一个星期的电，没有网。不能加油所以也不敢出门，可能淹得更厉害但不知道。

我在家里不觉得，也就是风大雨大alerts很多，第二天门前积水都没有。有同事上晚班，他们的感触完全不一样，走出单位外面就是flash flood，伞被吹烂，几条街走回去全身湿透。还有同事平常20分钟的路，开了两个小时到离家两迈，路被淹了，只能在车里等水退，最后半夜三点到家，前后快5小时。还有学生因为PATH停开，在学生中心沙发上睡了一晚。 第二天早上查地图，泽西城附近1 9 Pulaski全封路，我特意等到中午出发，纽瓦克机场前至少6辆车挂了，Waze不停地提示路边有hazard。再看朋友圈发的18号路靠Rutgers那片有段路淹了，满眼黄泥水。
