昨天看电视上说wells fargo 要取消所有个人的line of credit

不知道这个行为会不会造成什么影响？请懂的人来说说。我知道的身边有好几个朋友都有这个line of credit 好像可以随时提钱挺方便的。 不知到为什么银行要突然取消呢。

They are shutting down all the personal line of credit (a product). I doubt anyone here uses those. They are uncollateralized credit product similar to credit cards and typically have lower interest rates (still very high interest rates,, i.e. double digit) than the credit cards.
No big deal.

有些银行用personal line of credit as loss leader. 我有一个100K a line of credit, no credit pull no collateral no fee, interest rate about 2%. 开了半年了 balance 0. Wellsfargo personal line of credit 的利率最低是9.5%。。。

Wells Fargo 疫情以后就都不开新的HELOC了。据说是因为疫情中很多人失业，风险比较大。可是突然关闭已经开了的，感觉对疫情中失业的人来说是雪上加霜

Line of credit是一种很老的产品，产品的作用和信用卡差不多（银行给个信用额度“line of credit”, 可以通过写支票的方式随便花），很多银行选择关闭这项业务...一般关业务的时候会offer客户类似的产品（比如信用卡）
