I thought credit card allows you to cover your purchase for two years (1st year from apple and second year from CC) and after two years you pretty much need to get a new device anyway. These extended warranty insurances are generally not worth the money.

AMEX limit is up to $10,000 per covered purchase, up to $50,000 per eligible account per calendar year and same with the chase card. Yes recently Citi, discover and Fidelity removed their extended warranty benefits so avoid them. The rest you need to check each specific CC.
It only means it was worth it for you that time. That doesn't mean it is worth buying it in general. That's how insurances work. If you can take advantage of the insurance it will always worth it.
If you are so afraid of incidents like that then be my guest and purchase the applecare+. While you are at it you should buy apple (the stock) too because apple likely is making lots of money with these applecare+. regarding the ipad/ipad pro, in most cases after two years your ipad pro likely will still be the same usable state. I have gone through many apple products (iphones, mac book air, mac book pro etc) without applecare+ and so far no issues. I did claim 3 iphones (broken screen) through wells fargo credit card (I paid phone bills with it, notice wells fargo CC only covers phones so there is no ipads or macbooks extended warranty).

avoid citi, discovery and fidelity and read the term and conditions of your specific credit card you are/will be using
