模板: Topic: American history text anti-Asian content Dear Mr. Allen, I am deeply concerned about a part of the content from the textbook your company published: "American History" (ISBN-13: 978-0078916977). It depicts a very negative image of Chinese Americans, depicting the whole group as racists. This type of depiction itself is racist, because profiling any group of people negatively based on national origin is itself an act of racism. Here is the quote from the most liked review of this textbook on Amazon: "As a parent with Chinese heritage, I feel very uneasy and uncomfortable when reading page 446 about Chinese Exclusion Act: ”...The Chinese in America...were shocked by the anti-Chinese rhetoric that lumped them together with the African Americans and Indians...." I wonder how the author came to this conclusion by surveying how many people and investigating how many references? I saw the author mentioned "...one Chinese American said..." Why did s/he generalize from "One Chinese" to "The Chinese" using such condescending phrases? It is ironic that this book has "Survey" in the title. This textbook has been commonly used in AP United States History classes and in college survey courses. I feel sad my son or daughter may some day read this book and feel the same uneasiness I feel today." With the recently sharply rising anti-Asian crimes, I am deeply concerned about the message this textbook is sending. It seems to me that it tells people that all Chinese are racists and it justifies to hate Chinese. Please do NOT promote such stereotype and hatred in high school students via textbook. And please choose to stop anti-Asian hate and replace the biased and opinionated content with facts, hard evidence and fair description of Chinese Americans. Respectfully,
这本书是McGraw Hill 出版的。作者已经死了,所以找出版社的CEO最有用。他能找人修订新版本,教材通常几年就会换新版。
