对此，餐饮指南《迷恋》（Infatuation）的华裔编辑主任Diana Tsui上周末在Ins发帖称，同为少数族群，身为黑人的麦卡蒙德竟然多次发表过反亚裔言论和恐同言论，Diana Tsui质疑其举动是否能真正体现《Teen Vogue》“包容和赋权”的价值观。
实际上，这已经不是麦卡蒙德的“黑历史”第一次被翻出，2019年，她获得黑人新闻工作者协会奖项后，这些推特也被挂了出来，彼时她曾道过歉，并称已删除这些言论。
此次旧事重提，时尚界监督者Diet Prada也助力转发，引起了更大范围的关注。
据《华盛顿邮报》报道，当地时间3月8日，《Teen Vogue》团队紧急召开线上会议，会议结束后，麦卡蒙德向同事发送道歉邮件称，“我为此事给你们所有人带来的痛苦深表歉意……没有任何理由能使用那样的语言。”
