Mason

Cincinnati Metropolitan Area The Cincinnati name refers to the second largest river in Germany – the Rhine. It was built in the nineteenth century during a period of extensive German immigration because the geographical look of Cincinnati is similar to German geographical areas. The Cincinnati metropolitan area, informally known as Greater Cincinnati or the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State Area, is a metropolitan area that includes counties in the U.S. states of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana around the Ohio city of Cincinnati. The United States Census Bureau's formal name for the area is the Cincinnati–Middletown, OH–KY–IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, this MSA had a population of 2,114,580, making Greater Cincinnati the 29th most populous metropolitan area in the United States, the largest metro area primarily in Ohio, followed by Cleveland (2nd) and Columbus (3rd). The Greater Cincinnati Area was recently voted one of the Best Places to Go in 2019 (#8 - Money Magazine), Best Cities for Raising a Family (#9 - Forbes), and Best Cities for Young Professionals (#15 - Forbes).
Businesses With a metro population of 2 million and a $138 billion economy, Greater Cincinnati enjoys an unusually dense and diverse population of corporate heavy-hitters. Housing and Schools Families are drawn to Cincinnati for its excellent public and private schools, and its large number of Montessori schools. Some choose to stay close to the city proper in neighborhoods such as Oakley, and Hyde Park. Others raise families in suburbs like Blue Ash, Mason and West Chester where there are more spacious homes and reputable schools. There are plenty of excellent school districts in the tri-state area and the home prices are around the national averages. The median price of homes currently listed in the city of Cincinnati is $214,000 while the median price of homes that sold is $162,500. The median rent price in Cincinnati is $1,375, which is higher than the Cincinnati Metro median of $1,350. Even for excellent school districts such as Mason, West Chester, etc, the home prices are very much affordable. For example, Mason has one of the top school districts in Ohio, and the average home price there is about $300,000.   Healthcare Cincinnati ranked No. 4 in the 2019 rankings of the top 100 cities in the U.S. who get health care right by Healthgrades. In terms of access to quality hospitals, Cincinnati was ranked second in the country. There are many quality hospitals in the Cincinnati Metro area such as The Christ Hospital, UC hospital, and TriHealth. The airport is a global hub for both Amazon Air and DHL Aviation, handling numerous domestic and international cargo flights every day. Overall, CVG ranks 4th in North America for total cargo operations. Interstates 71, 74, and 75 are major routes connecting Cincinnati to Louisville and Lexington in Kentucky; Indianapolis in Indiana; and Dayton and Columbus in Ohio. The metropolitan area is encircled by an outer-belt, Interstate 275, the longest loop highway in the country. Amusement/Entertainment But Cincinnati is hardly a place that's all work and no play. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is the second-oldest zoo in the United States, opening in 1875, just 14 months after the Philadelphia Zoo opened on July 1, 1874. It was appointed as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. A 2019 reader's choice ranking of the nation's best zoos by USA Today named the Cincinnati Zoo the top zoo in North America. Kings Island is a 364-acre (147 ha) amusement park located 24 miles (39 km) northeast of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio. Kings Island is divided into several themed sections and operates seasonally from early spring through the fall, partially reopening for Winterfest during the holiday season. In 2017, Kings Island was the second-most visited seasonal amusement park in the United States behind Cedar Point, with an estimated 3.47 million visitors. It was third overall for seasonal attendance in North America, which was led by Canada's Wonderland. In addition, Kings Island has won Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today for having the "Best Kids' Area" in the world for eighteen consecutive years (2001–2018) as well as “Best New Ride” in 2017 for Mystic Timbers. The Newport Aquarium is an aquarium located in Newport, Kentucky, at Newport on the Levee, across the river from downtown Cincinnati. The aquarium showcases thousands of animals from around the world in 1,000,000 US gal (3,800,000 L) of water, including the "Scooter" and "Sweet Pea," two of the few shark rays in captivity. They are the first aquarium to have success in breeding shark rays. Cincinnati is a place with a longstanding German heritage. With more than one of every four Cincinnati residents claiming German heritage, Cincinnati is a very German place, which helps explain why Cincinnati’s Oktoberfest is the biggest in North America, the second largest in the world (after Munich’s Oktoberfest). Experience Cincinnati's German beer and restaurants as well as the traditional costume and shoe stores. Join in a guided tour in German-oriented neighborhoods and explore the typical German way of living.
Art and Museums Music Hall, commonly known as Cincinnati Music Hall, is a classical music performance hall in Cincinnati, Ohio, completed in 1878. It serves as the home for the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, May Festival Chorus, and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. In January 1975, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior for its distinctive Venetian Gothic architecture. As the fifth oldest symphony orchestra in the United States, the Cincinnati Symphony maintains a year-round performing schedule, including subscription concerts, Pops Concerts, Young People’s Concerts, and Lollipop Family Concerts. This is a list of main museums in Cincinnati: ·       National Underground Railroad Freedom Center ·       Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal ·       American Sign Museum ·       Cincinnati Art Museum ·       Contemporary Arts Center ·       Taft Museum of Art In addition, the National Museum of the United States Air Force is the official museum of the United States Air Force located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, 60 miles northeast of Cincinnati. The NMUSAF is the oldest and largest military aviation museum in the world, with more than 360 aircraft and missiles on display. The museum draws about a million visitors each year, making it one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Ohio.
Media Cincinnati-based broadcast media outlets often use the terms "Cincinnati metropolitan area" and "Tri-State Area" to refer to their broader viewing or listening areas, especially for the purpose of weather reports or school closings. The viewing areas of TV stations like WLWT, WCPO-TV, and WKRC-TV all span the same 26 counties in three states. Main radio stations include 700 WLW (local news), WVXU (NPR station), and a number of music stations like KISS 107.1. The main local newspaper is Cincinnati Enquirer (part of the USA Today network).
Sports Sports in Cincinnati includes three major league teams (Bengals in NFL, Reds in MLB, and FC Cincinnati in MLS), twelve minor league teams including Cincinnati Cyclones, and four college institutions with NCAA Division I sports teams including UC, Xavier, Miami, and Northern Kentucky University. Cincinnati also has seven major sports venues including Paul Brown Stadium, Great American Ball Park, Nippert Stadium, Fifth Third Arena and Cintas Center. The Cincinnati Masters (currently sponsored by the Western & Southern Financial Group) is an annual outdoor hardcourt tennis event which started in 1899 and is the oldest tennis tournament in the United States played in its original city. The tournament is the second largest summer tennis event in the U.S. after the U.S. Open, and 8th largest tennis tournament in the world in terms of the audience numbers. Nearby Sparta, Kentucky is home to Kentucky Speedway. Every May since 2000, Cincinnati has hosted the annual Flying Pig Marathon which winds through downtown and Northern Kentucky.
