UPDATE: this morning my mother was taken to ER. She rapidly deteriorated on Day 8, as an infectious disease specialist warned me she would. It appears my efforts the past two days to prevent this were in vain. If you have friends or loved ones who contract COVID, remember that doctors are seeing a statistically significant number of patients deteriorate on the eighth day after onset of symptoms. Thank you all for your well-wishes and suggestions. *** If you have family members at (or are considering a move to) Arbor Terrace Lakeway (next door to Baylor Scott), an urgent warning: do not let anyone you love stay there. 7 residents (3 now hospitalized) and 3 staff have COVID. My mother is one of the COVID patients (elderly/high-risk with underlying health issues). We have disturbing video footage of my mom laying on the floor by her bed calling for help for 40 minutes last night. She was too weak to walk the few feet to her bathroom. Someone finally came in to check on her at 4:30 am. Staff members are not observing Covid protocols. They have gathered sometimes 2-3 in a room to visit with (and hug!) their favorite residents. They haven’t consistently worn masks. Medication due at 7 or 8 am arrives as late as 3 pm. The kitchen serves cold, flattened biscuit hockey pucks with tomato sauce smeared across half of it to residents and calls it pizza. It might be because they have a nurse working in the kitchen. Food is left outside doors and residents have no idea it’s there. Some would be unable to help themselves to that food. A week or so ago, a resident with dementia wandered into my mother’s apartment - barefoot but wearing a coat. He sat down in a chair across from her in her living room (no mask, of course). He didn’t know his name (it turns out he is a retired police officer) or where he lived. Her door was unlocked because Staff/nurses come and go from her apartment and don’t lock her door behind them when they leave. Family members aren’t allowed in to help their loved ones without a current negative test result (waiting on our results now), and getting a nurse to come in and help is not possible because of regulations + COVID nursing shortages. Another resident who also has COVID hasn’t had her sheets changed for two weeks. Families pay $6-8,000 a month per resident to live there. In our case, we have no options re: places to move her while she has COVID, and we are told that a hospital would just send her back home unless she needs oxygen/ventilator (and we understand that a few days ago, Baylor Scott next door had only one ER bed left). We have video cameras throughout our mother’s apartment, we call her numerous times a day to check on her, we call the director and front desk almost daily, and we go up there with our own homemade food and deliver first aid products several times a week. Can you imagine the care that residents with uninvolved family members are getting?? The director is aware of these issues. So far, completely unsatisfactory responses. The area supervisor (in Atlanta) said he won’t show up on site until he gets a vaccine and it has time to take effect. Can you say slum lord? We’ve also contacted the state ombudsman. I’m sad to have to share this disturbing information. It used to be a nice place.

Families pay $6-8,000 a month per resident to live there.,注意6k可是下限。。
6k usd
Drop dead
