i think it really depends on whether the merchant has a good e-commerce platform itself and/or the ability to deliver the orders. Take ranch 99 as an example. Shortly after covid started, it launched its own online shopping. The price was marked up and there was no fresh groceries. Then it offered curb-side pick up. I don''t know how many people used it. Now it tries to sell fresh grocery online and provide delivery/pick up services in almost every store, but charges a shockingly 10% service fee. It is also on instacart, and even though there are fewer items, and that instacart adds a surcharge, somehow it doesn''t cost more to buy on instacart than on ranch99''s own website. Plus, instacart has a more user-friendly app and somewhat better service. Ranch 99 has been trying really hard to maintain its business during the pandemic by developing its own e-commerce platform, while a lot other smaller grocery stores don''t even sell online. With much less in store traffic, their best choice is perhaps to partner with instacart to hopefully still get some revenue from instacart users.
👍
