Civilizations have been laboriously built, hardened by war and competition, they loom over all. But one day it will simply be pushed over. This is because of a thirst for power, Rome despite being so strong fell to the barbarians because of their thirst for power, they spread their forces too thin (a mistake that Hitler would soon make) and little by little fell to the barbarians whom they called uncivilized and barbarous. But history repeats itself in the form of human nature and the barbarians who used to spend their days working hard and fighting now lay on their beds and became drunk. Rome on the other hand grew weaker and weaker until Constantinople was overwhelmed by the turks. So thus the great kingdom of Rome was taken over by a thirst of power and a lack of discipline. History repeats itself. “There will be another typhus and another argo that will carry (Jason and the other) beloved heroes; there will also be other wars and great achilles will again be sent to Troy '''' says Friedrich Nietzsche. History repeats itself in the broader outline, the basic scaffolding of history remains a pattern. Unsolved, yet still a pattern. Civilizations begin peak decline and fall, or stay as little remnants of itself scattered around. States and countries are formed by conquest by war and hardship. Challenges sift out the good and bad, leaving only the good. This leaves the strong civilizations confident and ready to rise to its peak. Thus progress is achieved and a civilization arrives at its peak.  A civilization will fall when discipline is lost, it is really that simple. Losing discipline is easier than gaining it, and it will happen in any civilization. Lose of discipline means loss of control and eventually fall.

谢谢。
今天读到史学家李维为这个事件写下的简短评价“在私人利益的甜美之中,公共灾难被遗忘。”
