In the Northern Hemisphere, the core is visible from March to October. But the best time for viewing it is from late April to late July, because the galactic center is visible for longer during the night.

google "Right Ascension mars", you get "1h 45m 34s", write down 1. This is as of 3/21 (Vernal Equinox). it means as of 3/21, mars set 1 hour behind (after) sun set. in other word, theoretically , since it''''s dark (sun has already set), you should be able to see mars -- but barely because mars will set within 1 hour, it should already near horizon so it''''s not practical to see it during March. this number will decrease by 2 every month: 3/21 1 4/21 -1 5/21 -3 6/21 -5 7/21 -7 8/21 -9, Mars set -9 hours behind sun set, or it set 9 hour ahead of sun set (so you never see Mars at early night), or it rise 9 hour before sun rise. Assume sun rise around 7 am, then 9 hour before sun rise is 10 pm. That''''s why you should be able to see Mars around 10 pm at night. we can do another example, famous Vega, Right Ascension=18h 36m 56s (as of 3/21), so at 8/21 it will be 8 (Vega will set 8 hour after sun set). it means it will stay in the sky most of evening. in addition, its angel of declination = 38° 47′ 1″, assume you are near Chicago (your latitude = 41), 38-41=-3 (degree from zenith). zenith (0 degree) is right above your head. so Vega is right above your head. Vega is also 2nd bright star in northern celstial hemisphere. that''''s why Vega is very noticeable (and famous) in the summer. it says astronomer study it extensively. Venus''''s RA is 7h 36m 43s, so on 8/21 it''''s -3, (it set -3 hours after sunset, set 3 hour before sun set, or rise 3 hour before sun rise). that''''s why you can see Venus in early dawn.
