I am not surprised by the bittering between them. My first impression of Fauci was good, concise communication with plain language and up to the point. But soon I felt he was too rigid for my taste. He is a typical well-trained west medical physician and relied completely on stats. Nothing wrong with that but his and his colleagues' initial assessment that covid-19 is a bad cold was just careless after the fiasco that happened in Wuhan. And their assessment that face masks were ineffective also irked me. We are dealing with a respiratory pandemic and common sense tells me mask will reduce infection but they just won't accept it until the end. Maybe people in his position cannot affort to be flexible, I don't know.

自1984年里根第一届总统任期以来，Fauci一直担任美国传染病研究所所长，一直到现在。这期间他一共为6位总统提供决策意见。他先后参与艾滋病、埃博拉、寨卡病毒、中东呼吸综合征关注病毒MERS、SARS、疟疾malaria、结核病tuberculosis等关乎全美公众健康的传染性疾病的防治工作。他的经验这么多，当然不应该让他总管疫情了。应该找一个从来没管过的医生来做。
