imo, in order to reduce confusion, it might be more acculate to call a person Huaren American (with American nationality) or Huaren Chinese (with Chinese nationality), when living in then US.
Perhaps we would need to review our conventions about overseas Chinese when living in different places.
To call a person Huaren Chinese (with Chinese nationality) or Caucasian Chinese (with Chinese nationality) or Caucasian American (with American nationality), when living in China.
To call a person Huaren Hongkongese, or Caucasian Homhkongese, when living in HK. Some Huaren American (with American nationality) or Huaren Chinese (with Chinese nationality) people are also living in HK.
To call a person Huaren Australian or Caucasian Australian (both with Australian nationality), or Huaren Chinese (with Chinese nationality), when living in Australia.

Just a thought!
