Two days ago my mom, who’s a Chinese immigrant in the US, said we should apologize for Covid-19. I told her there’s no reason for us to be sorry for a virus and in fact we are victims not only to the virus, but also to racism and xenophobia. Then she got frustrated and said the Germans apologized for WWII...Like what? How do you even compare the two?? And I’m so tired of things like this because basically my whole family has internalized racism...They say they hate everything about Asians all the time. I love my family but that’s just so sad and pathetic. And that’s my rant for today.
I agree with you and there’s nothing for the Chinese American to apologize for. In fact, we are the leaders combating this virus in many communities. 我同意你的观点在美国的华人没啥可道歉的。事实上我们是很多社区抗疫的领袖。
