'Spanish flu' has been used to assign the blame of a human disease onto certain geographical/ethnics group. There was no confirmed origin of the disease. It first broke out in America, not Spain. Yet Spain and the Spanish people was stigmatized by the naming, which inflicted further damage than the disease itself.
Likewise, 'Chinese virus' is now being spit out, directing fear and hate towards the Chinese people of our community, who are already suffering a great loss.
We must realize that a preexisting mistake does not justify the introduction of a new one. We must fight hate and separatism as hard as we do the virus. We must stop the irresponsible accusations at each other and restore sense and reason.
