University of Chicago Medical Center Patient Tests Negative for Coronavirus
University of Chicago Medical Center Treating Suspected Coronavirus Patient, Hospital Says还没最后确诊,正在治疗
The University of Chicago Medical Center said late Monday that the hospital was in the process of admitting its first patient suspected of having the coronavirus. Hospital administrators announced the development in an email to staff, faculty, students and residents. "As you know, UChicago Medicine has been preparing for this eventuality since COVID-19 became a global health concern in January," the email reads. "Senior hospital leadership and leaders from our infectious diseases and infection prevention teams, along with other expert clinicians, are working closely with local, state and federal health officials and continue to apply up to date recommended guidelines." A spokeswoman said the medical center would deliver an update once lab results came back. In the meantime, the hospital was "following rigorous isolation and infection control protocols to ensure the safety of our staff, patients and our neighbors," the email states. "We have the utmost confidence in the dedicated and highly trained team composed of nurses, physicians and other health care professionals who are providing care for this patient," the message added. Hospital staff did not provide any further details on the patient. If confirmed, this would mark Cook County's fifth case of the coronavirus amid the global outbreak. State health officials announced Monday that a fourth patient in Illinois had tested positive for the virus.
