第一次买房，没什么经验，最近一直在看houzz之类的网站做科普，大概了解了自己的喜好，也稍微了解了builder level和houzz上面designer level是不一样的‘
本人算比较handy，读大学的时候因为专业关系经常泡在machine shop里做东西，也自己做过家具之类的，之后可以自己做一些东西，
但毕竟没有太多家装方面的经验，也比较忐忑，所以上来问问，做color selection时应该主意什么，什么值得升级，什么不值得升级，谢谢大家
ps，我们的builder给的选择自由度相对比较大，不是那种给你A，B，C package的那种，是可以自己自由组合各种搭配的
[hr]更新问题，关于master bathroom upgrade，到底值不值得应不应该升级呢？？？？？？
概况是我们在东部大农村，50万左右3200尺左右的房子，4 bedroom 3.5 bath
我们选的房型的masterbath可以有三种方案，
A、fiberglass version（included）（112 sqft），
B、Tile Version（+$5000)（121 sqft），
C、Frameless no tub version(+$7500)（121 sqft）,
当然加的价钱不包括如果要升级不同的tile，三款的vanity cabinet都是随着我们厨房cabinet一起升级的，所以都一样
其实还有D选项是有frameless shower 和freestanding tub的，但是要改变整个主卧窗户的朝向，导致我们多半面墙的大窗户朝向邻居的墙而不是后院（东南），所以果断pass了
本来我们挺喜欢C的超大的frameless shower，反正我们也基本不泡澡，但是参观了实物觉得
1.没有想象中的好看，而且default的tile乌突突的感觉像水泥一样，难看死，要升级更好的tile估计又要加不少钱，
2. shower的最大的那面玻璃不是一整张玻璃，而是两片玻璃粘在一起（不知道是不是都是这种default的操作）
3、窗户比两个便宜的version小了一半
4、家有terrible two 小娃一枚经常在屋子里跑来跑去捉迷藏，不知道会不会有安全隐患
5、如果几年后需要升级，比如把shower改小一些加freestanding tub的话，要重新做tub的上下水会不会很麻烦，还是说现在的趋势越来越倾向不要tub？
关于version B，我们觉得又不好看而且也要花5000刀，而且满墙的tile以后打掉的话又麻烦又可惜，还不如干脆选A，只是A的shower空间稍微小了一点
所以现在比较纠结，在budget不宽裕的情况下，是先把钱花在别的地方（比如厨房加cabinet）呢，还是一步到位花1万刀左右在version C和更漂亮的tile上，然后过几年有buget了再升级masterbath

还有关于backsplash，我不介意自己装，但我们厨房抽油烟机后面会有一片to ceiling的backsplash，不知道如果自己弄的话把抽油烟机卸下来装backspash再固定抽油烟机会不会很麻烦

我看楼里关于backsplash 我们也是自己做的 没花多久 而且挺便宜 相反之前花了很长时间去决定选哪个 我看了你的图 你直接弄到hood下面就行了 那个烟囱旁边我觉得没有必要铺
然后不管是墙啊 还是厨房啊还是什么的 的确需要contrast 我之前想弄纯白厨房 后面发现太平淡了 所以backsplash颜色选的深一些 然后我们沙发当时就想好了选灰色 深灰 跟tv wall搭配 跟客厅墙形成对比 还有吊扇上面那个灯和我们岛上面的灯也有点遥相呼应的感觉（这个我手机上没图片给你看） 反正我1.31签合约到最后7月交房 中间花了很多心思怎么搭配颜色啊 灯啊什么都是看了很多才买 由于是新建房其实有更多的时间来准备 mm可以慢慢看 然后小区里面如果有一样房型的可以提供很好的参考

那个灯挺漂亮的，我爸妈国内有个类似的，不过我妈说每次擦灯都很痛苦，哈哈哈哈
哈哈 我觉得美国还蛮干净滴 灰不算很大 起码我完全没有考虑过这个灯需要擦（为我的懒惰找个好借口） 哈哈
我的几点意见： 家里有其他的卫生间有浴缸就能满足刚需了，主卫里如果还是老式fiberglass浴缸加淋浴，即使贴瓷砖，其实还是比装好了的shower only减分。
如果做shower only，出了layout升级，确实得再准备三千左右的钱升级淋浴的瓷砖。一个shower一万。我觉得你那里价位和我这里感觉相当。很不幸如果你想先不升级墙面，以后改瓷砖的话，估计钱不会少，如果要拆的瓷砖多，反而会更贵。
窗户的位置被shower堵是可以有解决方法的。我们的builder在shower里开了三个小高窗。但是这个后期自己开会很贵。
我觉得你如果追求完美，就现在一点都不升级，然后自己找人做。default layout shower 较小不是太大的问题。如果觉得刚搬进去就搞拆除装修太累，还是和builder升级到过可以妥协的方案比较省心。两个方案，都不会省钱的。
