I would get nervous if connection time is less than 3 hrs, even though on HKG the minimum connection time is 45 minutes. I have once almost missed a connection from PVG to HKG with 3 hr connection time because PVG traffic control's problem. Another time barely made it with two hrs (HGH-HKG).
So if you have 3 hrs connection time, go for it. Otherwise think twice. However, I would not hesitate flying CathayPacific given enough time in HKG.
