2. Re: First time in Aspen: Fall colors Sep. 24, 2019, 4:10 p.m. Save I was there the other day and the colors have not really begun there. Lots of road construction along the way so plan on extra driving time. An article in the Aspen Times says expect the colors to not pop until the end of Sept. and the first of Oct. https:/…
imho, with the way traffic is going to be I would pick a spot closer to Denver. Check out the reports here on tripadvisor under the Fall Foliage reports for some ideas - https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g28927…
Re: Fall Foliage Reports 2019 Sep. 24, 2019, 4:23 p.m. Save We just drove today from Denver to our house in Buena Vista. Went up I-70, and started seeing yellow leaves at about the turn-off for Highway 40. Lake Dillon area is gorgeous with tons of yellow and with the mountains behind the lake. Drove down Highway 91 to Leadville and then Highway 24 to Buena Vista (again gorgeous with the Cascade Range to the west). All along the way we saw lots and lots of bright yellow, but also lots of leaves just turning and some still green. All three in the same small area.
It looks like there will be good leaf peeping for at least another week.
Re: Fall Foliage Reports 2019 Sep. 24, 2019, 7:33 p.m. Save We drove Boreas Pass yesterday. On the side of the pass closer to Breckenridge, the aspens were showing gorgeous color!
