为什么不能是both are correct 呢?我觉得两个approach都有道理。 推广手语固然是尊重聋哑人,但是expect the whole world to change for you is unreasonable. 正常人如果没有家人有听说障碍,期望他们使用手语是不现实的,反过来说如果强迫正常人使用手语不也是对正常人的不尊重?其实就是不能走极端, 帮助有听说障碍的人学习正常说话绝对是对孩子,对社会都有积极意义的。重要的是,这个学习的过程要有真正有专业,有爱心,有耐心的人主持引导, 家长和社会也要对学习的艰难程度和进步程度有正确的预期。

美国60岁以上的Deaf对这种speech therapy至今都还有非常恐惧的记忆,对cochlear implant人工耳蜗在Deaf Community也是有不同看法的。
推广手语以及服务才是真正的爱心,希望中国在Deaf Education方面不要走弯路,越来越多的人正真从Deaf 角度而不是Hearing角度关注这个群体,更多了解Deaf Culture

其实你想做这个现在也可以转行,special education一直还是需要人的。

但是正常人会手语的很少。如果一个deaf person想真正融入社会,那么光靠手语的限制是很多的。我们组就有一个听障的小姑娘,她带助听器,话也说的还不错,但是工作中还是有很多不便,比如开电话会议,她不能看见别人的嘴形,就有些听不太明白,必须依靠transcript service就是有一个速记员迅速把别人说的话传给她的电脑。还有比如大楼里搞消防演习,警报响了她却意识不到(警报的声音在她听来是不一样的), 我们楼的安全规则里特地为此加了一条要有专人去通知她。她一直说打算去做人工耳蜗,会比助听器要好。这还是美国,已经算对残疾人很友好了,她也是正常上学上班,但是工作中因为交流能力的限制还是有不少影响的。中国的情况可想而知。
没感觉有啥价值,人类科技进步才是终极目标。
所以要让更多的人了解这个人群及他们的需求,比如你说的火警报器是有带灯光闪烁功能的,相比较让他们适应hearing,对他们是更有益处的
人工耳蜗在Deaf community有不同声音,因为助听器,人工耳蜗这些技术没办法让Deaf真正听到理解语言

re,我有个同事是犹太人,家里两个失聪的孩子都是戴耳蜗然后慢慢学说话,长大后基本跟正常人一样学习工作,完全不需要依赖手语。毕竟你不能指望周围的人都学习手语,不学讲话就只能把社交限制在周围有限的几个人上
有很多孩子只是有一定的听力损失,而不是完全是聋的听不见。这种的只要在学习语言的时候好好教导,应该是可以像正常的孩子一样说话的。
我觉得国内比较大的问题是歧视,还有配套设施做的不好。正常会说话的戴助听器还有人工耳蜗的孩子是可以跟普通孩子一起上课的。但是在国内我从来没在普通学校看到过这样的孩子。
其实带助听器和戴眼镜是一样的,但是都是五官能力有些弱,需要辅助物品。但是因为大家都戴眼镜,所以觉得戴眼镜没什么,但是戴助听器就觉得是一个很严重的问题。
之所以配套设施服务支持跟不上就是因为不了解这个人群真正的需求,我自己支持cochlear implant,是因为有不少Deaf说可以听音乐,这太美妙了!这么多点赞的,感动的,大家都很希望帮助他们,但怎样帮其实大部分人完全不了解这个人群,以及他们真正的需求,即使在美国,生了Deaf的Hearing父母及他们的Hearing兄弟姐妹不会sign language的太多了,cochlear implant大部分是Hearing家庭对Deaf子女的决定,Deaf父母不会为他们的Deaf子女做人工耳蜗,因为在Deaf culture里并不认为Deaf是negative,而是他们的self identifying,相反hearing impaired,fix,cochlear implant,这些词才是negative
说助听器好比眼镜的,这个是错误的认知,你给 blind带任何眼镜都无法矫正,助听器对Deaf真的不是老爷爷耳背需要放大音量,他们是 Deaf不是耳背
