Produced in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts, this square is inspired by Chinese cloisonné from the Ming and Qing eras, the last two imperial dynasties, which had a great success among collectors in the early twentieth century. They belong for the most part to the museum archives. The so-called cloisonné technique consists of creating patterns with thin strips of metal placed on the field, forming networks that will be filled by the enamel. Floral and geometric motifs among which rises the horse, highly symbolic Chinese animal, often associated with the dragon. The extreme refinement of this composition pays tribute to the subtlety of this art.
The story behind La Maison des Carrés is a delightful, colourful, humorous account of the creation of an Hermès silk carré, from its initial inspiration to the point of sale, with a peek at the colouring and printing processes along the way. Here, too, are the house museum and its cabinet of curiosities (the inspiration for so many designs), the creative studio – that vital incubator of talent – and, last but not least, the actors who escort each carré on its great adventure, before it is tied at the neck, shoulders, waist or head of whoever chooses it.
The story behind Claude Monet, one of the Impressionist movement’s foremost exponents, moved with his family to Giverny in Normandy, in 1883. The garden he created there over many years was more than a source of inspiration – it was a work of art in its own right. Visiting in 1907, Marcel Proust wrote of the “delicate water lilies depicted by the master in sublime canvases for which this garden […] is a kind of living, preparatory sketch." Christine Henry was invited to this exceptional place, today the Museum of Impressionism, for the creation of this carré. Its composition is inspired not only by the infinitely rich colors of the garden’s flowers, but also by Monet’s carefully planned arrangement of forms, color harmonies, shadows and reflections. From the gentle curve of the Japanese garden’s bridges and the broad paths in the walled Normandy garden, to the soaring verticals of the bamboo and the delicate leaves of the weeping willow, motifs from the ceramics decorating Monet’s kitchen or kimonos evoking his fascination with Japanese art are surrounded by the geometry of flower beds and waterfalls. This carré is a tribute from the House of Hermès to an artist’s garden, and to the Foundation that ensures it lives on today.

MM把九十的戴的那么好看,真是羡慕。我现在留的90的,都是舍不得转的。飞鱼那条,留了那年印封面的那个色。我也喜欢纪念版的,收了sand hill store opening 的两条Pegasus。最新的就是武士的90。不过大的小的现在都不太买了,加州用的不多。

这条的斜角线有紫蓝色,金色粉红色,玫瑰红橙色,折叠戴起来很丰富多样,别人以为我有三条不同的丝巾性。

我发的都是90x90cm的丝巾。设定想要露出来的图案,简单折一个basic fold,调整想要露出来的图案,因为我想把山水这个图案显出来,但这个图案不是在正中心,而是偏的位置,折完basic fold后绕在脖子上就出现了长短明显的两个带子,然后象打红领巾一样打结,把短边藏在长边的下面。
