It is likely going to be DC/NoVA. AWS is in NoVA. Bezos just bought a large home here in DC, and that is usually indicative of a corporate move. He also owns the Post. Combine with it the large number of engineers that live in the area that Amazon has tried to recruit, especially specializing in security, it ends up being a good bet. I don't know where in the DC area it might be, but it will probably be in a more urban location since for major headquarters that seems to be their preference. So DC or Arlington are the most likely locations. Another hint it might be DC, we have the highest percentage of prime customers per capita and Amazon purchases. I really wouldn't bet on suburban office space though, or a more sprawling city down south. The likely location will be urban, so DC/Arlington. Amazon for these headquarters offices likes to go full urban. That is the trend anyway. I think there will be some competition between DC, Arlington, and Montgomery County (Silver Spring or Bethesda). Tysons will be in the mix too, but Tysons is years away from being urban. I would rule out down south though, far to few existing connections with Amazon. The DC area is already center to major Amazon and Besoz connections with AWS and the Washington Post. Usually when somebody buys a large home in the area, they are signalling they will be expanding in the area in a major way.

Chicago
