50,but it is not necessarily totally phased out once your agi is higher than 130k. It depends on the number of kids you have 天那,这个 credit 太神气啦. 这个credit 是refundable, Uncle Sam could write you a check for the excess of the child care credit over your tax liability.

It depends on your filing status and household income. If you file as non-resident, 0. If you file as resident and your adjusted gross income is less than 110k, you can get 3200$ exemption from income and 1000$ credit; If your AGI is greater than 130k, you can only get 3200$ exemption. 这5000以外费用可以算credit for child and dependent care expenses,这个没有收入限制,但最多只有3000/child可以用来算这个credit,夫妻俩要都工作或是full-time学生。 I asked couple financial advisor and figured out 529 is not very flexible. so we didn't use this account. First it is after tax when you put money in this account.( You can't get tax benefit right away). Second, the usage of the money is limited for kid's education or your own higher education only. Third, this will affect your kid gets scholarship later if the scholarship is not merit based. why I heard it's before tax? Did heard that, but compounding has huge effect, better than do nothing or just put it in the bank
我不是很懂这方面的知识, 得学习学习了 怪不得现在LG的每次的paycheck好象多出来好几百呢, 看来是少交税拉 够买奶粉尿布啥的了 you can write different numbers on W-4 form, thus tax withholding can be quite different

( at least for CA since it is state based) but "you get unsurpassed income tax breaks. Your investment grows tax-free for as long as your money stays in the plan. And when the plan makes a distribution to pay for the beneficiary's college costs, the distribution is federal tax-free as well. " For more information, I find some infor online: http://planning.yahoo.com/c/faq.html yes, compound makes a big difference. since investment is personal choice, I find I can do other investment than 529 which has the some capital gain tax free benefit but without the restriction for its usage.

But can't take it out too early though. Also contribution has limitation annually.
