Our college counselor told us applying T5, weighted GPA should be at least 4.5/4.8 (assume follow the most advanced courses which schools are provided). If it is 4.6/4.8 up, it has great chance to go into T5.

I was told the top colleges keep tracking some high schools GPA trend and courses, even what teachers told which courses. They collect those data and build their GPA models.
我老大这次高中毕业发榜，他的ＧＰＡ都不在前十名里。他说ＧＰＡ要高很容易，多选一些容易的大学课程（AP Class）就行了。他选了一门大学历史课，觉得太简单，没有必要去上课，自己看看书就去考试，通过了考试就不用选修了，仍然可以在大学免修。因为没有去上课，这门课的ＧＰＡ就没有。（虽然他的AP Test分数最高，但GPA不高）他说他可以选一门大学烹饪课，也可以增加ＧＰＡ。他只是觉得冬天时候已经收到了大学录取通知书，就没有动力继续去拼ＧＰＡ了。
ＧＰＡ主要反映出一个人勤奋程度，并不反映此人聪明程度。美国学校GPA是由出勤，作业，以及考试等综合指标总和得出的。你考试不好，但平时作业及时完成（家长或朋友也可以帮忙做作业），那么GPA也不会太差。
大学课，非AP，也比中学honor课难
SAT 变optional, GPA更重要，每年要保持或上行趋势。AO精得很，烹饪课和硬核课是有区别的。
因为修课的话各个TEST，作业，PROJECT都要保持好的水准才能拿到高的GPA，要至少93以上才是A。但是考COLLEGE BOARD 的AP 考试，有些科目拿到60多70%的对率就是个5分。
所以学校开设的AP 课，AO 会更看重学校拿到的分数和GPA。

so the highest grade is 4.8.
It is impossible to reach to 4.8/4.8 becasue some must-taken classes are the egular ones
我也是听升学指导忽悠的，但觉得似乎靠谱。
升学指导的话就是， GPA 不是万能的，但是没有GPA是万万不能的。
剩下的都是打酱油的居多。
所以我对紫檀的 feedback
1. 过分强调 大奖 EC。
2. 过分强调强调AO 的不可预测。我认为top college 都是 data drievn model.
招生标准有迹可循
像我们这种没背景的中产就别搞什么EC了。 搞了大概率也是没有。
这个和紫檀的思路差距很大。
校长委婉的说 不要硬撑，水平不够就不要上honor 课。
不过就是另一种卷。
别的孩子卷EC， 我们卷 学校的课，卷GPA。
但是GPA最高的那批学生都是懂得这个game的。一点不参与自己会受伤害。参与到啥程度, 个人选择。
