儿子最好的朋友，美韩混血，没有EC，0 volunteer Hour，GPA 只有3.7， ACT倒是考了36， 进了Cornell
类似likely letter， 但明确说录取了
LD同事的儿子，今年早申进Cornell CS。
数学有奖，具体不太清楚，GPA第五，平均分９８以上，４－５００人大公校。
另一个朋友的儿子去年Cornell CS，也是高GPA和擅长数学。
这类孩子都是SAT几乎满分的。
除非是文科。
当然有的热门公司还是看GPA的。

我周围有两小中,学习很一般,一个进了M,一个进了USC,周围人都很惊讶.最后知情人告知,一个是第一代大学生,另外一个有disability.人家会说吗?
小中男, especially for the three and half private colleges
rather admitted by minorities, sports, or to some very cold major (like African research)
而小中男pool裏 STEM小中男這麽多 要standout就只能拼EC了
很多没有在高中外做义工。但学校里面每个孩子都做，象乐队在学校举办的某些活动或乐队外面捐款的义务劳动，洗车之类，每个学生都必须轮流义工。
外面非学校的没有很常见，这些课外本来够忙的，根本没有时间。除非不参加这些活动的人时间充足。
否则太不讲道理了
