We were surprised that he drew the same conclusion as some of our friends working there. When asking him y, he said it is just his personal feeling, very strong.

1. 其实, Duke并不是南方的贵族学校. 最早, Vandy才是南方贵族和大地主的子女喜欢上的学校.
2. Vandy这些年在USA News的排名在稳步提升. 其录取率在排名10到20的名校是比较低的, 这几年在11%左右.
3. Vandy最强的是教育学院, 是全国排名数一数二.医学院和法学院排在15名左右.. 当然, 她的音乐学院也是名列前茅. 她的pre-med 也是相当不错的.
4. Vandy所在Nashville城市不很大, 学生不会感觉无聊. 因其是音乐之都, 所以会有很多音乐会可以观看. Nashville的气候也不太冷也不特别热, 所以来自不同地域的学生容易适应.
5. 如果想学医的话, Vandy的医学院和医院与其主校区在一起, 不像许多其他名校(如JHU, WUSTL, 西北等)主校区与医学院是分开的. 所以本科生寻找在医院做义工和做研究的机会比较多和更方便.
6. Vandy的校园环境很整齐也比较漂亮 (其校园本身也是一植物园). 她的环境也比较安全. 不象JHU, WUSTL, 还有芝加哥大学那么有风险.
7. Vandy的学生幸福指数一直排名很靠前.
8. Vandy是排名前20名校中, 出Notre Dame外亚裔学生比例最低的, 大概在9%左右

录取学生实际注册率 Emory 只有20%多， Vandy , WashU也只是30%出头。况且Vandy采用的是新生15%来自其waitlist 的做法，人为地boost enrollment rate。
结果全自费上的MIT
医法商都不俗，类似YALE，DUKE这种名私校的标配，只是排名再往后。国际上声誉与前二所差别比较大。
医学院在主校区类似YALE, DUKE, 很方便
南方这两所，一所是铁路大亨出钱，一所是烟草大王出钱，有些相似度
人的优秀性不应该由他们去什么学校决定。。。
比较录取率要区分ED和EA，而且真正的名校不应该用ED。这就如同小商小贩强买强卖。
25到35个学生真去学校读书了。好像名校中Emory 最低 28%，vandy 应该在35%左右。想象一下也就是通过RD录取的学生真去上学的只有10%左右。

我的女儿就是那里毕业的。范德堡总的说还不错。大部分教授都很好。学校十分漂亮。食堂吃的不错。 那里学premed 的淘汰很厉害，孩子自觉才可以去。
11. Food 很不错，食堂和校外的都好。
12. 拿A不容易，但竞争压力没那么大，老师同学都友善。
13. 海外读书的机会和5年读研的program 都好。
14. 周边教会对娃照顾很多很好。
14. 不好的地方：
工程排名偏低，工程系就业不如其他名校；
贵族学校，容易养成娃大手笔花钱的习惯；
毒酒等问题比Tech 学校厉害。
