Growing up in in a city like Beijing, it’s always crowded everywhere I went. eg. taking buses, even when people were packed inside as tight as sardines in a can, and yet still more wanted to get in. That was one of the reasons why I always preferred walking whenever possible.
Having been in Canada for a long time, I’m spoiled now with the ample personal space we have here. So when someone pushed me from behind on the train leaving Copenhagen, it was too close for comfort and I automatically blurted out: “don’t squish me!”. Then a young gentleman moved over to my side, he laughed and said: “Sorry, but I’m squished too."
