"Hit a home run" is an idiom directly refers to the baseball term, where a home run is a hit that allows the batter to score a run by circling all four bases.
In everyday language, It is used to describe a situation where someone has achieved a remarkable or impressive success, often surpassing expectations.
Examples: - "The company's new product launch really hit a home run with customers." - "I think he hit a home run with his latest article; he made his point very persuasively."

"Come on, chop-chop, we're late!".
It was 8:40pm, Saturday before last, we were on our way to an advance polling station. Although the official voting day for Canadian federal election was April 28th, we hate the long lineup on the voting day so much that we always vote in advance.
The official results were out yesterday. Surprise surprise, the Liberal party didn't hit a home run, but made it to 3rd base: they won 168 seats in House of Commons, just 4 seats short from a majority government.
By looking at the CBC projection polling chart below, you will know what the surprise was.
BTW, I didn't vote because I like any particular political party, I voted for Canada. By the election results, I think many Canadians felt and voted the same way.
Yep, Carney is sharp and impressive. See his words:
in his victory speech:
I began with humility, but Canadians are ambitious. And now, more than ever, it is a time for ambition. It is a time to be bold to meet this crisis with overwhelming positive force of a united Canada. We are going to build, build baby, build.
Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration, is over. The system of open global trade anchored by the United States, a system that Canada has relied on since the Second World War, a system that well not perfect has helped deliver prosperity for a country for decades, is over.
But it’s also our new reality.
We are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons. We have to look out for ourselves and above all we have to take care of each other.
When I sit down with President Trump, it will be to discuss the future economic and security relationship between two sovereign nations. And it will be with our full knowledge that we have many, many other options than the United States to build prosperity for all Canadians.
The host told the audiance" Don't try that at home. You are not good enough at it. Those lies were told by American politicans. They are professionals"

可加拿大似乎差距悬殊。很有意思的是,床铺的第51个州的荒诞言论,让加拿大人民如此反感,助力原本已不再受欢迎的自由党再次胜出。床铺 well and truly made Canadian Liberial great again.
