What is worth doing at all is worth doing well.

This proverb means that if we are going to do something, we should do it to the best of our ability. It suggests that we should take pride in our work and strive for excellence.

“In truth, whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well; and nothing can be done well without attention.”Philip Dormer Stanhope

If you decide you are going to do something, then you have to do it well and to the best of your ability, which means paying attention to every little detail.

You can not physically do everything yourself, but you do need to pay attention to every little detail of the thing that you are doing to make sure it is done properly.

Except it’s not true. At least, not all the time. It could be perfectionism rearing its head. But let’s be real — there are a lot of things in your life that simply don’t have to be done to the highest levels of excellence. It could simply be that you are learning something new and it takes a bit of a learning curve. It could be that you’ve set an overwhelming goal and don’t know where to start so you don’t. Or, it could just be life.
