"To dot your i's and cross your t's" is a well known idiom. It means to pay attention to details and to do things very carefully and thoroughly. The short video below gives very good explanation wrt to its origin and meaning.

------------------------------------

It could be the engineering training or inborn personality or both, I tend to be doing that, especially at work. So I contributed minimum amount of bugs in two companies I used to work at, although there was no such award for that .

One true and funny story: my hubby was a programmer (that's how we met, but I left to work for another company afterwards).  One day he brought some code print-out home after work, said there was some issue with the code, he had spent the whole day debugging but couldn't find the problem.  I was curious (and his company was not a direct competitor of mine), so I had a quick glance of the code after cooking supper.  Hey, I saw the bug staring at me on the paper.  Guess that could be purely luck or the result of "To dot your i's and cross your t's". Or just a fresh pair of eyes as 7G brought up.  Thanks Brother!!!

Wish you all a good Saturday!
