Then your lawyer takes 1/3, (10K) your health insurance company has to get their $10K medical bill, and you'll leave with $10K left over.
However, if the insurance company only pays you 20K, your lawyer takes 1/3, ($6.66K), your insurance takes $10k (medical bill), you'll be left only $3.33K. That's not ideal.
Just keep this in mind when you get a lawyer and keep the expectation in line.
