一朋友在ESL学英语。在昨天下发的家庭作业里有一道词汇练习题。要求将下列单词分成三组:1. 须用冠词a/an,2. 须用冠词the,3. 不须用冠词。由于是医学词汇,平时使用极少。如何答题,不得而知。故来此寻求帮助。望英语大咖们不吝赐教。谢谢先。

6. cancer

9. diarrhea
10. eye infection

Seems a/an,or the ,applies to all,at first glance-;))

看了一下,好像没有需要用The的 :)

1. A cold
2. A flu
3. AIDS
4. A cough
5. hiccups
6. cancer
7. A cut
8. measles
9. A diarrhea
10. An eye infection
11. A dry skin
12. A fever
13. insomnia
14. A headache
15. malaria
16. A stomachache
17. A sore throat
18. A toothache

I didn't seem to see any particular one that needs to use "The".

But of course, "The" can be used in certain context in front of the words that has either A or An.

我在Flu前会用the,但很多人不用。 :)

2. The flu  (But there are some who do not use “the” here.)

9. diarrhea  (Some would have “A” here.)
