Some of you may know that recently I have been in the "坑" of trying to pick up Spanish.
Well it all started when my young one started to study Español at school. And serendipitously, I ran into an audio CD album teaching Spanish in our town's library. I was intrigued to find out what it is like to start learning a new language after so many years. So I decided to give it a try.
Another reason being that I am a soccer fan. And these days in US and Europe, Spanish have become the official language of the sport. If you had seen the training video of PSG after Messi joined, you can tell. Half of the time, the training session was filled with spanish "gibberish". Plus, we often face local Mexican teams. Wouldn't it be nice to decode their next move?
After several months, I feel I am stuck now. The grammar is extremely complicated, especially the verb conjugation. So complicated yet precise that you do not need subject in a sentence most of the time. The different verb form says it all. Without mastering this, I can read or listen to understand, but I just can not write or speak it. Now you look back at English, it is so simple, so user friendly. No wonder it is almost an international standard of communication.
So praise to Google translation, and thumb down to verb conjugation.
Tip: Learn French at the same time for synergy, they are very similar, vocabulary and grammar. Wink, wink.
