At one point this evening, I really wanted to lie down flat and weep. Ok, not literally. :)
I went running with my puppies on a small hill this evening.
There are several trails intersecting one another. I usually zigzag the trails and make a loop that is about 4 and half miles. After finishing running, I find a spot and do some stretching, then go back to the car and head home.
This time, when I went back to my car, I found that I lost my car key! I checked all my pockets. It was nowhere. I realized the car key must have bounced out from the unzipped pocket of my jacket that was tied on my waist, and I didn't hear it because I was listening to music while running.
Puppies and I were all tired and thirsty. I called my husband and asked him to pick up the puppies. Then I headed back to the trails to look for my car key. I was tired, and it was getting dark. At that point, I jsut wanted to lie down flat and weep. But I knew that's not going to work for me. The key would not show up on its own. So I dragged my legs and slowly jogging along the same trails I ran on a little while ago.
It was getting darker, and I didn't see any one for a while. Finally, I saw a lady and her dog walking towards me. I asked her if she saw a black key. She said sorry that she didn't pay attention and did not see it. And she was worried for me and wished me luck before she left. I kept on going. And saw her again at an intersection. I still had not found my key. She wished me good luck again. It was getting darker, but I knew somehow, I would find it eventually. So I kept on going, surveying every inch of the ground I was passing.
About half way, I saw the black key lying right in the middle of the trail. I finally found it! I picked it up and headed back to the parking lot.
On the way back, I felt I am such a lucky person. I have always found the stuff I lost so far (knock on the wood). I saw the lady and her dog another time just before I turned on the trail that leads back to the parking lot. She was very happy for me. We said good night to each other and parted.

虫虫 must know what a worm hole looks like. Lost and found, your car key was a key to an enlightening universe. This was an epiphany. Not only did you look at/on the bright side, you also discovered dark matter that energized you. Lying down in your deep dark hole, you were floating above the mundane world. I bet you might hear stars scraping across the night sky overhead. You were so much and so far into the world that you had wormed yourself out of the world. You define the world because you can defy the world.
In a Deep Dark Hole
You said,
You were hurt,
You felt down and low.
You fell into a deep dark hole.
And you wanted to
Lie down flat low
At the bottom
For a while.
Why not, said I.
I'm coming down
To lie down next to you.
We watch birds flying high
In the sunlight.
