"That Day" (那一天) is one of my favorite songs. I could sing it over and over again. So this is a perfect time to sing it again, and better yet, to do a duet with 花帅!
My original plan was to record my own version, then added it to his using Autdicity. But it turned out not to be a good plan. He used a different version of music. The beats are off quite a bit. It's not going to work. So instead, I imported his song into Garage Band and recorded my version using the same music. And this worked a lot better. There are still a few places are off sync though.
This is my attempt to traslate the lyrcs into English. I'm open to suggestions. Thank you!
That Day
那一天
That day, when closing my eyes and meditating
amid the fragrant smoke of the incense in the sermon hall,
Suddenly I heard the genuine words from your chanting.
That night, I spinned all the prayer wheels,
Not to release souls, but to caress your finger tips.
That year, I kowtowed and crawled on the moutain roads,
Not to go on a pilgrimage, but to get close to your warmness.
In that life, I treked through mountains, waded waters, and pilgrimaged to pagodas,
Not for my afterlife, but to meet you on my journey.
At that moment, I flew,
flying like a fairy,
not for my afterlife, but solely to bless you with joy and peace.
At that moment, I flew, not for my afterlife, but solely to bless you.
Do you believe? I want to give a try, I want to be there... ..
Qinghai Lake is located in an endorheic basin in Qinghai Province, to which it gave its name. Qinghai Lake is classified as an alkaline salt lake and the largest lake in China. Qinghai Lake lies in a hollow of the Tibetan Plateau at 3,205 metersabove sea level. It lies between Haibei and Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures in northeastern Qinghai Province in northwestern China.
In Tibetan culture, Qinghai Lake is called Namtso, which means “heavenly lake” in Tibetan, is the world’s highest saltwater lake and a sacred site for Tibetans. Many Buddhists meditate in the caves in the cliffs along the edge of the lake. It pocesses both natural and spiritual attractions and never lacks of lengends。
(第六世達賴喇嘛倉央嘉措) Tsangyang Gyatsothe became 6th Dalai Lama at 14 years old. As a Dalai Lama, Tsangyang had composed excellent works of songs and poems, but often went against the principles of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism. Also as a youth of high intelligence, Tsangyang disobeyed Buddism disciplines, liberal to a fault, fond of pleasure, alcohol, and women. Hes was exiled from Potala Palace at 24 years old. He disappeared near Qinghai Lake on his way to Beijing in 1706. The 6th Dalai Lama composed poems and songs that have become popular not only in modern-day Tibet, but all across China.
