Well, in the last 3 weeks, I have been searching my memories for some childhood fantasies. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything even close to be a fantasy. I guess I was just not a fanciful kid. Sad! I do have some childhood stories though. After all I was a child once, right?
When I was a child, I loved outdoors (by the way, I still do, very much so). Usually during the day, when I was not at school, I would be somewhere in the moutains or in the river.
I grew up in a beautiful small village. Continous mountain ranges lie behind the village, and a river in front of the village stretches across more than a hundred meters wide.
It can get very hot in summer where I grew up. In those hot summer days, the best outoor place no doubt was the river. I sometimes spent all day in the river with my friends, splashing water, catching fish, riding a water buffalo, and chasing crabs.
On the river bank, grew a lot of willow trees and bambooes. Some willow trees grew right at the edge of the water. Some of their roots were exposed to the water. The tiny string like roots swayed in the water. They formed small pocekets where small fish loved to hide.
My friends and I would try to corner fish into the pockets and then use a basket or a fishing net to close the opening of the pockets. So when the fish tried to come out from the pockets, they got into our baskets. Yay, we got them!
It was such an excitment whenever we caught a fish. Still a lot of times, fish outsmarted us and ran away even after we got them into a pocket. And sometimes, they even got away from our basket. They are really slippery and they can jump!
We often went mud loach (or pond loach) catching too. Usually after a rain in summer, there were a lot of them in the mud at the edge of the fields, or a pond. Mud loaches are very slippery and wiggly. Quite often to catch them we had to wretsle with them in mud.
You see, at the age when BeautifulWind discovered her odd number formular, I was still wrestling in mud! That's the difference from the get-go! :)
Anyways, all things considered, I had a happy and fun childhood. I'll always miss those care-free days and the happy times I had.
I think the last one is OK though because they are not in the same sentence. I often make mistakes too, and need someone like you to correct me. :) Thank you very much for pointing them out. I corrected the first two.

Mud Loach Catching
The pond is full, filled with water
Rain has stopped.
In the mud at the edge of the fields
are loaches slithering all around.
I have been waiting for you every day,
Waiting for you to take me to catch loaches.
O, my big brother,
Would you take me to catch loaches?
Xiao Niu's big brother took her loach catching.
O, my big brother
Would you take me to catch loaches?

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.
--- close to be a fantasy --> close to being a fantasy ?
--- outdoors --> the outdoors ? OUTDOORS | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary
--- I have been searching ... I didn't find ... --> I have been searching ... I haven't found ... ?
off it went down the drain
