5th grade in a small junior school. I was a class leader, every morning I came to school earlier to make sure things are ready for the class. There was a small factory (校办工厂) not far away from our classroom. One morning I saw a tree branch cracked and hanging there, I called one of my friend took it out, and I saw a girl in her 20s sitting in front of a window and waving hands, smiling to us. Both two little kids were shy and run away immediately.
According to the school regulations, boys in 5th grade started to go to that factory to learn new stuff. The factory supervisor introduced us to that girl, her job is to assemble electrical components for the railway control system.
I couldn't believe what I saw: She was sitting in a wheelchair.
She encouraged us asking questions, smiled to me and said: " I knew you! you are the class leader, start from you!" So many times in the beautiful summer morning, I looked at her from our classroom. It's like a window with a view, she was so beautiful and sometimes she stopped working and looking at the sky. I was wondering what she was looking at and what she was thinking: The beautiful sky or her life?
One day my teacher told me that they recommended my essay " 晨光中的校办工厂” to the famous magazine CHILDHOOD 儿童时代, and it was published.
I grabbed that magazine, running to the factory and want to tell that JieJie. Supervisor told me she was sick badly due to the Polio 小儿麻痹, couldn't work anymore.
