Mortise and tenon structured square cherry kitchen dough table (直榫攒边樱桃木双层厨用擀面小方桌)
I enjoy foods made of flour such as hand-made noodles, steamed buns with or without fillings, dumplings, fried pan cakes, but our kitchen was missing a kitchen table where to carry these dough works. At the very beginning, I managed it worked out by getting a regular pine board from HomeDepot, finding fours steel legs from a garbage table to make a simplified version of kitchen dough table. It looked super ugly!!!
After I got some woodwork tools, and especially after the upgradation of our kitchen, the table appeared supper ugly and could not match up with the current kitchen in any sense, I finally decided to make a decent kitchen table in order to terminate the inharmoniousness: bought some cherry lumber from local wood store, finished the design and started to work on a new version of kitchen table.
It was designed to be square in shape with top and lower layers. Frame was constructed by the traditional mortise and tenon structure, no nails, but wood glue. After assembly, the working surface of table was finished with peanut oil and the other surfaces were sealed with clear finish.
