Like I said yesterday, I'm not really fond of language translating. :) However, last Sunday morning, when I saw this poem, I had an urge to translate it into English. So I sat at the dinning table working on it for about an hour. :)
And here it is:
You are April, a Glorious Spring month
—— In praise of love

I say, you are April, a glorious Spring month
Laughters light up the embracing winds
Grace and delicacy interchangeably dance in Spring’s brilliant colors.
You are the clouds and mist in an April Spring morning
Softness of the evening breeze
Casual twinkles of the stars
Drizzles sprinkling on the flowers
That dainty, that beauty, you are
A crown decorated with fresh and colorful flowers, you are wearing
You are innocence, you are solemness
You are the full moon of each night
Baby geese yellow after an early Spring thaw.
You are like the new green shoots first appeared in Spring.
You are joy and tenderness.
The reflection in the water floats the white lotus you’re dreaming of
You are the blossoming trees in rows
The birds’ twittering on the beams
You are love, warmth, and hope
You are April, a glorious Spring month

《你是人间的四月天》是民国时期诗人林徽因于1934年创作的一首现代诗。此诗首先是写出“四月天”这一意象，以春风轻灵、春光明媚、春色多变等四月天的季候特征；第二节至第四节则分别以四月天中各种不同的具象来比喻生活中的各种画面；最后诗人直抒情意，概言“你”就是“爱”，就是“暖”，就是“希望”。全诗以诸多意象为喻，书写细腻柔丽的情愫，表现出轻盈优雅之美，同时其内容与形式完美地结合，中国诗歌传统中的音乐感、绘画感与英国古典商籁体诗歌对韵律的追求完美结合，是一首可以不断吟诵、不断生长出新意的天籁之作。
这首诗据说是林徽因在儿子出生后的喜悦中为她的儿子写的。
