My portfolio grew steadily over the years, then came covid, and trump went crazy on China, he threatened to delist all China stocks in early 2020, I immediately sold all BABA within 5 minutes hearing Trump's threats, at this point, my baba return was more than doubled, so now I was sitting on a large chunk of cash in my Roth, then stock market started crashing on March 9th 2020, a Monday, and there seemed no bottom, I remember this day very well not just because of huge daily paper loss but because I just signed a contract to purchase a million dollar house on previous Friday, talk about timing! I watched my investment went from high 4 mil to close to 2 mil, I was so scared and helpless, wife started giving me the look, you all know that, right? But I did not sell...this continued for about two months and seemed stabilized, once again, being a risk taker, I started buying Upro with the cash settlement from BABA, this time, I went all in, kept buying 200k worth of Upro every week stating in Jun 2020, 2021 was a great year, I bought some tqqq in August, and it doubled. I reached ATH on the last day of 2021, about 8.5 mil, I remember that moment very well, sitting in a beach side restaurant during Christmas 2021 in the big island of Hawaii. Then came 2022, we all remember it, right?? My networth took again a high paper loss as you can see it from the graph, 2023 was an OK year, then came 2024, stock market came roaring back, during this whole time, I did not sell any shares except in September 2021, I have to come up with down payment for my house, sold about 500k. So this is my story and it certainly not for everyone to copy, I maybe just lucky.
And this is my journey, all is from a boy who came to the USA for graduate study in the Fall of 1993, with $2000 in my pocket.
