iOS (iPhone or ipad) 可以自动recognize 某些 audio interface。但是常常电压不足，带不动 XLR condenser or dynamic mic。解决办法是 powered USB hub.
You need:
1. Audio interface, for example Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 ($159);
2. A powered USB hub ($30);
3. A camera adapter for iPhone or iPad ($35-39);
4. XLR mic
What you do NOT need: PC... for some people this is a life saver.
Procedure:
1. connect camera adapter to lightening connector (where you connect your charging cable normally);
2. connect the main USB hub to the camera adapter (the power USB hub has separate power supply and does not take power from iPad);
3. connect charging cable also to the camera adapter (the other end goes to USB hub or to the wall outlet);
4. connect audio interface USB cable to the powered USB hub;
5. connect your XLR mic to the interface (of course for condenser mic you need to turn on 48V phantom power). Hook up your headphone to audio interface as well.
Then oola, iPad will recognize the audio interface for both input (mic, or midi, etc) and output (playback, just like 耳机）.
So essentially the 1 camera adapter+2 USB hub+audio interface+3 XLR mic+4 headphone now together serve as a 耳麦。It is tedious and lots of work. But if you want that studio like sound effect without PC. this is the best solution I could find.
