昨晚8:30房客电话说房子着火了,电话里都能听见救火车的警笛声。
现场来了近10辆大小车辆,15,6个救火员,fire marshal. 没人受伤。 living room 靠deck门完全烧毁。inspector 说房子不能住人了。断了水电气
红十字会也来了,给没地方住的房客发了毯子,800刀的卡。我带着房客在旁边hotel租了间房。
折腾到半夜1点多。
今天早上6:00,Fire Marshal 又电话留言,火又死灰复燃着起来了。他们又去救火,屋顶烧了一大片。

第二把火基本上把房子烧光了,大部分屋顶没了。
昨天现场就有人拉生意,介绍封门窗的公司。今天来封门窗,就带了general contractor. 他们要包下整个房子的重建。不停讲下一步怎么做。还冒出一个adjuster, 也讲的云里雾里,后来才说他要代表我去保险公司要钱。他们嗅觉真灵敏哈,闻着味就过来了。
9点火就灭了,救火队搞到11点,说找Hot spot。 还是没能避免二次起火

封门封窗找公司做的话,他们向保险公司要两千,我和保险公司自己雇用的现场估价员谈,我说给我自己做我要一千,他立刻爽快答应了,给我写了一千的支票,我找人做只花了80,后来好多adjuster和建筑公司来揽生意,其中有一家专做这类生意的建筑公司说帮我估价,我同意了通过他们的估价我从保险公司直接拿了估价70%的赔款,拿到手的70%让估价公司提成了10%,后来我自己完成了重建,只用了拿到手的不到一半就做好了,按理说我们可以拿剩下30%但是我并没有按照估价公司的设计去修,但是通过了检查,后来其他事情一忙就没有再追剩下的30%,追这剩下的30%据说要提供保险公司完整的发票等等。而且有时间限制。
我被各种琐碎事务缠住没有额外精力仔细考虑这个事了。反正用保险公司赔的钱把房子修好通过政府检查已租给section 8的人了,还买了一个投资房,也差不多够本了。
工人的费用更是随他们说了,关键这是要钱的依据,我想只要按他们的设计表面上实现了,具体实现怎样就随你(这里应该是能赚钱的部分),只要inspector的检查通过,就应该能拿到所有的赔偿,我的理解是发票可能是保险公司要求的重要paperwork。让建筑公司做当然省心,我感觉真让他们做,他们会找保险公司要更多的钱,他们就是靠着这个吃饭的。
