I was very proud of you when you registered to vote shortly after you turned 18. I was happy to see your enthusiasm toward voting. I have always registered myself as independent; however, I was happy to know that you registered yourself as Republican. In today’s political environment on campus where roughly 80% of students are Democrats, I am happy to see that you are an independent thinker. I am proud of you for having the intellectual independence. I am proud of you that you choose to reject liberalism, against the herd.
I’m sure we would have talked more about the election if you were home. I have to say that I have never had such strong emotion about a presidential election in the past, which I am afraid that you may be surprised. I have debated if I should share all my thoughts with you. Ever since you were little, I have always tried to let you make your own choices, even on trivial things like choosing between an apple or a pear, I wanted to let you get used to making choices and learn from the consequence. I wanted you to grow up to be yourself, to be a man of your own. Selfishly, even though I have argued with other people on candidates, I thought I should let you to explore and learn about the world yourself, even if it means you choose the wrong candidate. On the other hand, I am compelled by the importance of this election. As you know, the next president may have the opportunity to nominate three Supreme Court justices, which will have profound influence on our country’s future. One vote is just a drop of water, but that is what power of people is about. I know you have been very busy with your study, so you may not have followed all information. That’s why I decided to share what I have learned lately.
You may recall, toward the end of the primaries, I angrily replied to a survey, ‘I won’t vote’, when I was asked whom I would vote for if Donald Trump became the republican nominee. A few days later, when we heard on NPR radio saying that the KKK leader supports Donald Trump, I told you that I would have to vote for Hillary even though I don’t like her. I remember when we saw the first Trump sign in our neighborhood, we both went like ‘oh, a Trump sign’. A doubt came in my mind if that family were racists. So how did I change my mind to vote for Trump? If Trump were indeed a racist, I would never vote for him.
In the first presidential debate, Hillary called Trump a racist. Calling someone a racist is a serious accusation. It has to be supported by facts, or it is dirt political campaign strategy. Hillary did bring up a specific case in 1975 in New York City, in which the Trump family was sued by a government agency. Hillary made it sounded like that Trump was convicted of violating the fair housing act, but the case was settled by an agreement with the government. Here is the case reported by ABC News.
Trump claimed that his family was keeping welfare recipients from the buildings because they could not afford the expansive rent in those buildings. You can try to make someone look bad about keeping poor people out of your properties, however, the reality is, as a landlady myself, I have to be concerned if potential tenants have enough income to cover the rent of a particular property.
As a Chinese American, I think I have a deeper understanding about racism. My view of today’s American society is that most people are not racist racists. What I mean by not racist racist is that most people accept the principle of not to discriminate people based skin color, or at least know it is not right under the law. However, many people may still have prejudice in their subconscious mind. I feel that for American to come together as a people, we must insist on the principle but at the same time be tolerant of individual thoughts. Despite how certain events have divided the nation recently, I still believe that in my over 30 years in the US, I have seen people becoming more and more accepting of each other even though it may take generations to break down all barriers. To further equality, it will require all people to be tolerant of each other while having differences. So I would not be so quick to call someone a racist. I admit that I sometimes have suspicion about white people being racists in private, but I would not accuse someone being a racist unless he or she acts racist. I certainly hope the country will become less and less racist, but calling each other racist is not a solution. We should be very careful about calling some racist. The only solution is a little love and a little bit forgiveness toward each other.
I saw this picture online, so at least in public eyes, Donald Trump has not been a racist. He didn’t take these pictures for this campaign. It was how he was over 30 years as a businessman.
In 1989, he received an Ellis Island award with Mahammad Ali. So I cannot call him a racist.
The other reason Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump to be a racist is the immigration and refugee issue. He called Mexican criminals and rapists but he later clarified that he meant that there are some criminals and rapist who are illegal Mexican immigrants. About deportation, he also clarified that he wants to deport those who have criminal records. He is still talking about the wall between US and Mexico border, but I think no matter what form the wall is going to be, he meant to have a strong boarder to keep the drug out and stop illegal immigration. The US has immigration law. Law has to enforced or modified, but it should not be ignored. You can’t call someone racist because he wants to enforce the immigration law. He wants to halt accepting refugee from muslin countries where there are many terrorists. Was that an action against muslin religion? I don’t think so. If FBI could not identify terrorists after suspicious being raised by concerned citizens like the one who killed 49 people in Orlando, how could we trust the screening of those from abroad? It is not a matter of being racist or being inclusive. Life of people in the US should be the first priority. It is not unreasonable to halt the process until there is a way to let anyone in safely. Hillary Clinton is irresponsible to her people to open doors without security assurance.
I have to say that what forced me to vote for Trump was how bad Hillary Clinton is. The first shock was her email scandal. I was surprised how much she lied. Someone counted she lied 35 times.
These are not ordinary lies. She lied to congress under oath. Not only she lied, she also destroyed phones and laptops during FBI investigation. You hear all the time that people get arrested for lying to police or tempering evidence. It is call obstruction of justice. I don’t know whether we should feel better or worse for the fact that some congressmen fought to bring charge on her. The following videos were on C-SPAN2 TV but I didn’t have time to watch until recently.

What is even more disturbing is that Attorney General decided not to charge her after all this investigation. What a coincidence that Bill Clinton and Attorney General Lorreta Lynch met at an airport a few days before decision was made on whether to bring charges on Hillary Clinton. In her position, she should know better to avoid such meeting to look unethical. It is fishy to say the least.
Now, media has finally reported that the wife of the FBI investigator took money from a Clinton ally.
It is also no secret that both Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton made a fortune by making speeches at corporation and even foreign entities. Bill Clinton’s speech fees went up when Hillary became the Secretary of States. Here is just a small laundry list of their dealings.
As an employee, I have to take training classes for anticorruption law. In general, if you are doing business, you or your family members are not allowed to take money or anything of value from the people you are doing business with. When it involves foreign government, the law is strict. How could the Secretary of States, who makes decision on foreign policies, let her immediate family members taking money from foreign governments, and breaks no law?
The Clintons are very, very corrupted. I have strong animosity against corruption. I left China when I was very young and when I didn’t speak English. It wasn’t an easy journey to leave family behind and to make a new life here. I chose to be a US citizen because it is a country where everyone is supposed to be equal in front of law. I know how terrible injustice can be when certain people are above law. I chose to be a US citizen because our government is not supposed to be corrupt. I know how immoral the society can be when the government is corrupt. I ran away from China for more just and less corruption. I have invested my life in this country, my country. As a citizen, I must do my citizen duty to keep this country as what it supposed to be. I have to vote against Hillary to stop corruption.
After looking into her history, I start to think that the email itself was not even the biggest crime she committed. Look at Bengasi where US ambassador was killed by terrorists, there were a lot of unanswered questions. Why did Hillary Clinton try to misguide the public to believe that the incident was due to random protest against an anti-Muslin video while the attack was planned by trained terrorists? Why didn’t the State Department provide help after the ambassador called for help days before the incident, and why no attempt was made to call allies to help? Again, I am not sure if we should feel better or worse that some congressmen and congresswomen actually grilled Hillary.

Speaking of character, Hillary Clinton is the cruelest woman in the world. When she was a young lawyer, she defended a rapist. I understand that lawyers have fiduciary duty for their clients, and she was a court appointed lawyer for the defendant. I am okay with her work to defend the rapist, but the way she boasted about her case was disgusting. She had no sympathy for the victim after she tortured the 12 year old girl through the trial.

The Clintons had a dark history in their early days in Arkansas. Shortly after Bill Clinton became to president, there was an investigation on their business dealings. Then her longtime partner, the key witness died under suspicious circumstance.

More creepily, there have been 47 suicide or accident deaths among Clinton associates. The rate of suicide and accident is too high not to be noticed.
Regardless how the media has tried to ridicule Donald Trump, his plan actually makes sense. Here is his summary of his first 100 day plan. The very crucial part which Hillary Clinton lacks is the economy plan. Hillary Clinton only offered tax hikes for the rich, but her definition of being rick included many middle class people. By simply raising the rate on so called rick people without fixing the loopholes for the very rich, the only people who end up paying more tax are the people who live on salary. What is more hopeless about her plan is that she tries to redistributing wealth without growing the economy, which will only make the economy weaker. I support Donald Trump’s tax code reform because the current complex law leaves many loopholes for some people to beat system. Whether I will end up with a tax cut is secondary. Critics say that his tax cut will raise the deficit. There is certainly risk of rising deficit with tax cut if economy does not grow. However, I think combine with his other proposals, I think there is a chance to succeed. End offshore act should stop the outflow of jobs. Globalization is driven by cutting labor cost for corporation. It is time to have some balance. When few people in the US have jobs, who is going to by all the products made oversea? I support his energy plan to drill and mine in the US. I think it will make US in a stronger position if US is totally energy independent, and US workers will have more jobs.
Hillary Clinton claims it is dangerous to have Donald Trump to be the president. But look, FBI investigation concluded that she was extremely careless in dealing with confidential information. Here is a comment by a professor on her third debate nuclear weapon comment, how carelessly she disclosed top secret on national TV.

The media has paraded 11 women who claims Donald Trump assaulted them. Many of these people have been discredited. It is just interesting that for many years, there were no complaint, a few weeks before election, they showed up in media. I just want to show you one video from 1997 which shows Donald Trump with the Miss Universe who recently claimed that he was a racist and sexist toward her. In the video, you see no sign that the woman was feeling mistreated. If her story were true, she wouldn’t have acted the way she acted when she invited Donald Trump to call her to exercise together.

I was impressed that he actually got to a meeting with Mexican president as a candidate. I think he acted fine even though Hillary Clinton thinks that he was schooled. I think negotiation between leader is a key to better relationship and benefit for both.
