Taking MCAT is basically one-shot. Multiple attempts may not
Be helpful. A single MCAT score (520+ for ABC especially boy) is ideal. Authentically taking AAMC practice tests after seriously preparing MCAT will give you a clear idea of MCAT score you could get.
You don't need to know subjects super in depth or memorize lists and lists of things, but you need to have a pretty solid basic understanding of so many different subjects that it can become pretty overwhelming. All in all, I would say you need to have an understanding level of the content that would get you a B in the college courses of Physics 1&2, Bio 1&2, Intro Biochem, Intro Sociology, Intro Psych, Orgo 1(& maybe 2, kind of iffy), and Gen Chem 1&2.
I will say that out of any standardized test I've taken (and I'm basing this off the full length practice tests provided by AAMC, am taking the real one for the first time in 3 days) it definitely has the most "testing how you think" aspect to it. It really wants you to pull from multiple areas and "think like a scientist". It's a very different exam than most exams I took in college, which is much more narrowed and focused. A big part of studying is learning how the AAMC wants you to approach questions.
I started studying for 1-2 hours a day 6 months in advance, and about 3-4 hours a day the last month. That was mainly due to the fact that I am in a gap year working full time. A lot of my friends have had success studying for longer hours a day, starting 3 months out. It depends on your study style. Most study resources recommend 200-300 total hours of studying before taking it. As for forgetting material, I learned some of this stuff freshman year of college, and began studying as soon as I graduated, 4 years later. You'd be surprised at how much easier it is to learn the concepts for the second time and how much you actually remember! Good luck when you start your studying endeavors!

Definitely hard, and I would say for two reasons:
You don't need to know subjects super in depth or memorize lists and lists of things, but you need to have a pretty solid basic understanding of so many different subjects that it can become pretty overwhelming.
