According to Freud, psychosis sometimes is a defense of the mind. When the reality is too bitter to accept, people tend to deny and detach it, indulging in his/her own imaginary world.
This tragedy raises many questions on many levels.
Did/Does she have the mental ability to make sensible decisions for herself? If not, how did she end up there? How come she gave birth to 8 kids? Did anyone commit any crime in this sordid business? If not, is there a need to make new laws? What needs to be done if the local government has tried to sweep this thing under the rug? Is it even possible to bring about a reform the need for which is highlighted by this incident? Wait, let me catch my breath before I continue. :(
